35 Breathtaking Examples of Patterns in Nature

Famous dutch painter Rembrandt once said “Choose only one master – Nature” and he couldn’t be more right. Nature is the best artist and a limitless source of inspiration. Unfortunately, not everyone can see that. This is why we want to show you these 35 wonderful nature’s patterns. Guangzhou Opera House by Zaha Hadid Architects

The Guangzhou Opera House by Zaha Hadid Architects has opened in Guangdong province, China. Top photograph is by Christian Richters Shaped to resemble two pebbles on the bank of the Pearl River, the building houses a 1,800-seat theatre plus 400-seat multifunctional hall, rehearsal rooms and entrance hall. The main auditorium is lined with moulded panels made from glass-fibre reinforced gypsum to create a folded, flowing surface. The inaugural performance takes place today. Tree Ring Lights by Judson Beaumont

These funky tree lights were designed by Judson Beaumont of Straight Line Designs, a furniture design firm out of Vancouver. Called Tree Rings the lights are made out of a beetle pine shell topped with mirrored Plexiglas that allows the embedded cool fluorescent light to shine through in the dark. I’m not sure of the practical application, but it appears the lights can be used as as small tables and bear enough weight to act as a stool. The pieces debuted last summer at Duthie Gallery .
